Why installations take the time they do — and moving house
A realistic view of fibre and fixed-LTE install timelines, and what happens if you move address.

Why your installation might take longer than expected
Fibre installation timing is set by the network operator, not by us — Fibre Boyz orders the line, but Openserve, Vumatel, Frogfoot, Octotel, MetroFibre or Evotel (whichever reaches your address) schedule and carry out the physical work. As a rough guide, a working week or two is typical once your order and site survey are confirmed, though this varies by network and how much civil work your specific connection needs — a straightforward reconnection in an already-fibred building is quicker than a fresh trench to a standalone house.
We'll always give you a specific timeline for your address once your order is placed, and confirm any minimum-term details for your exact plan before you sign up. If your date slips, it's almost always the network's civil works queue, not paperwork on our side — let us know and we'll chase it with them on your behalf.
Fixed LTE and 5G connections don't need civil works at all, so they're typically quicker — we aim to have you connected within 7 working days of your order.
What the connection process looks like
- You check coverage — tell us your address on Connect and we confirm which network reaches you.
- The network connects your line — the operator's own accredited technician runs the physical connection to your home, or activates your fixed-wireless link. Nothing for you to book or chase.
- We get you online — we set up your router, confirm everything's working, and take over your billing and support from day one.
Moving house
Fibre and fixed-line connections are tied to the address the network installed at, not to you personally — so moving means starting a fresh coverage check at your new address on Connect, the same as a brand-new sign-up. A fixed LTE or 5G SIM is similarly linked to the cell tower nearest your registered address, so it isn't something you can simply unplug and take with you.
Either way, tell us before you move and we'll get the new address checked and the line set up there, rather than leaving you without a connection on moving day.
