Getting started with Fibre Boyz
Checking coverage, choosing fibre or fixed LTE, and what happens after you sign up.

Is there fibre in my area?
Maybe — and the only honest way to find out is to check. Fibre isn't sold like a SIM card you can use anywhere: a network operator (Openserve, Vumatel, Frogfoot, Octotel, MetroFibre or Evotel, depending on your suburb) has to have already run cable past your address, and usually only one of them covers any given street.
Pop your address into the coverage checker on Connect and we'll tell you straight away which network reaches your home, if any, and what speeds are available there. If fibre hasn't reached you yet, fixed LTE or 5G is often a solid alternative in the meantime.
Fibre, fixed LTE or 5G — which one?
- Fibre is a dedicated physical line into your home. It's the most consistent option, and there's no fair-use throttling on our fibre plans.
- Fixed LTE and 5G use a SIM and the mobile network's towers instead of a cable — useful where fibre hasn't been built yet, or as a backup line. Speeds are best-effort rather than guaranteed, since they depend on tower distance and congestion.
Not sure which suits your address and budget? Talk to us and we'll help you decide — see our Fibre, Fixed LTE and 5G pages for what's typically available on each.
What you'll need at home
Whichever technology you choose, you'll need a Wi-Fi router with a WAN port. Fibre and fixed-line connections also end at a small network box that the network's own technician fits — an ONT for Openserve or Frogfoot, or a CPE for Vumatel. You don't need an existing phone line for fibre; it runs completely independently of any analogue or copper line.
What happens after you sign up
Once your address checks out and you've picked a plan, we place the order with the network operator on your behalf. Their own accredited technician does the physical connection or activates your tower link — nothing for you to book or chase. Once that's done, we set up your router, confirm everything's working, and take over your billing and support from day one: one bill, one number.
