Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 September 2026.
Fibre Boyz (Pty) Ltd trading as Fibre Boyz · Reg 2017/386810/07 · VAT 4750287957is the “responsible party” for your personal information under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPIA”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.
1. What we collect
- Contact and account details — name, email, phone number, delivery and billing address.
- RICA and connectivity-application documents — a certified copy of your ID, proof of residence, and (for some fixed LTE plans) a recent bank statement, collected only when you apply for a fibre, fixed LTE or 5G service, as required by the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act.
- Order and support information — what you bought, order and application references, and the content of any message, WhatsApp chat, call or email you send us.
- Payment information — handled directly by our payment partners (PayFast and Yoco); we never see or store your full card number.
- Technical information — basic details your browser sends automatically (such as your IP address and browser type) when you visit this site, for security and to keep the site working properly.
2. Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- process and deliver your order, or set up and support your connectivity service;
- verify your identity and address where the law requires it (RICA);
- communicate with you about an order, application or support query;
- send you marketing communications, but only if you’ve opted in — you can opt out at any time;
- meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations; and
- keep our site and services secure and working correctly.
3. Who we share it with
We only share your information where it’s necessary to provide our service, and never sell it. That includes:
- the network operator (Openserve, Vumatel, Frogfoot, Octotel, MetroFibre, Evotel, MTN, Vodacom or Telkom) that installs and carries your connectivity service;
- our payment processors (PayFast, Yoco) to take payment;
- our courier partners, to deliver a physical order;
- our email and IT service providers, to run this site and communicate with you; and
- a regulator, court or law-enforcement body, where we’re legally required to.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as we need it to provide our service, plus any further period required by law — for example, financial records are typically kept for five years for tax purposes, and RICA documentation is kept for the period the law requires. When we no longer need it, we securely delete or anonymise it.
5. Keeping it secure
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — including encrypted connections, access controls, and processing card payments only through accredited payment partners — to protect your information against loss, unauthorised access, or misuse.
6. Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, and access it;
- ask us to correct or delete information that’s inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or unlawfully obtained;
- object to how we process your information, on reasonable grounds;
- withdraw your consent to marketing at any time; and
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za) if you believe we’ve mishandled your information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
7. Access to information (PAIA)
As a private body, Fibre Boyz may be asked to provide access to records it holds, under the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000. If you’d like to request access to information we hold, write to us using the contact details below and we’ll guide you through the process.
8. Cookies
This site uses cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for what they are and how to control them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect a change in the law or in how we operate. The “last updated” date above tells you when we last did.
